Living With Waves

‘Living with Waves’ is a textile, hand embroidered mandala based piece. It depicts my journey of exploration following being diagnosed as autistic aged 44, then on to self-acceptance and beginning my artistic career. This piece incorporates everyday collaged objects, including medication leaflets, using them as tools of communication and expression of the issues I face and the tides of emotion that I experience but often cannot communicate verbally. Through slow stitching and textiles I am able to understand, accept and regulate these challenging times, channelling them positively and creatively.
